About our training library

Our library of courses and learning events helps you find training that’s been recommended for people like you.

It was developed following a project that looked at developing data skills in social care in Wales.

To start with, the library will concentrate on highlighting learning opportunities to improve data and analytical skills.

We hope to extend the library in the future to cover a range of topics. Please keep an eye out for more news.

How the courses are sourced

Courses that are added to the library have to fulfil a number of different criteria to be included:

We’ll only consider:

  • courses provided by organisations where the course location is in Wales or the organisation is based in Wales
  • courses run by any further education or higher education academic institution based in Wales or with a presence in Wales (such as the Open University)
  • courses from any UK Government agency, including devolved administrations who provide relevant training and learning opportunities
  • courses offered by other .wales/.cymru organisations, as these may be organisations that are specifically set up to meet the learning needs of people working in Wales
  • learning resources offered by developers of industry standard tools or learning institutions. For example, Microsoft’s training resources for Power BI.

To keep resources accessible, we also looked for selected and curated content that’s relevant and free to access. This must be content that’s been cited as a high-quality source of learning by an organisation that meets at least one other of these criteria.

We may also signpost people to other search engines that list relevant opportunities, such as MOOC (Massively Open Online Courses).

Inclusion in the library doesn’t mean that the Insight Collective, or Social Care Wales, are endorsing a course or learning opportunity. There are many opportunities available in the library and we aren’t able to assess the quality of each one.

We’ve tried to choose our content carefully, and from trusted providers, to meet the needs of the research and analytical community in social care in Wales.

If you’ve attended a course advertised on the library that wasn’t of the quality you were expecting, please let us know.
