Research Conversations: ‘I feel so much better after I’ve had supervision’
Social workers’ experience of supervision in statutory social work in England
Wednesday 24 September, 1pm to 2.30pm (via Teams)
In this interactive session key findings will be shared from a study exploring the changing supervision priorities throughout the social work career
From September 2023–July 2024 a group of 10 practitioners and 5 Higher Education workers (academic and non-academic) participated in a Facilitated Practice-based Research (©University of Sunderland) programme.
The programme positions practitioners as researchers by reframing their existing skills as research. The practitioners were from both Children’s and Adults’ Services from different local authorities and independent organisations in North-east England.
The focus for the study emerged from practitioners’ own experiences and observations of recent practice issues leading to the research question: What constitutes ‘effective’ supervision in statutory social work?
