The new Storytelling framework for social care in Wales is live!

07 July 2025

Together with our partners in the Developing Evidence Enriched Practice (DEEP) programme, we’re excited to launch the Storytelling framework for social care in Wales.

Storytelling helps us make sense of the world and connect with one another. It can value the simple things and make things that are complex, more accessible.

How can storytelling support social care?

In social care, storytelling can:

  • build relationships and understanding through co-production
  • help people engage with, and learn from evidence
  • support an individual or team through challenges
  • help us find out what's really going on (this can apply to people and organisations)
  • demonstrate the impact of work
  • celebrate practice and attract and recruit the right people, as well as keep them.

What’s in the framework?

The resource includes information on:

  • the benefits of storytelling
  • ethical considerations
  • examples and methods of using storytelling in practice for well-being, learning and development, and promotion and recruitment.

"It’s great to have an evidence based framework to be able to signpost people to, with everything they need to plan, gather and use stories to improve outcomes for people they support.

This is a fantastic resource for anyone who would like to get started. Whether you’re interested in collecting stories for well-being, promotion or evaluation, this resource is for you."
