Our approach to social care data
We work with partners across Wales to improve the way social care collects, manages and uses its data.
In 2021, we published our Statement of Strategic Intent, which set out our medium and long-term ambitions for data in social care in Wales.
These ambitions were echoed in Welsh Government’s Digital and Data Strategy for Health and Social Care in Wales, which says:
“People’s data are the essential foundation of high-quality health and social care. Without comprehensive and well-defined data there is no reliable information.
"Good information drives better quality decisions, better planning of health and social care services and better operational management.”
Since publishing our statement of intent, we’ve continued to lead the development of data projects, capabilities and our understanding of how data is used in social care to:
- enhance decision making
- promote our understanding of how social care is delivered
- improve care and support.
