Essentials of Survey Research Design

Who is this course for?

It is helpful, but not required, that participants have a basic understanding of producing surveys/doing research. For the sampling part of the course, it is useful for participants to have some familiarity with basic statistical concepts such as normal distribution, mean, standard deviation and standard error.

What will I learn?

Learn the art and science of creating an effective survey from initial planning through an introduction to basic weighting and tips on writing survey reports.

The course covers:

- Ethical considerations
- Mode of data collection difference
- Mixed mode and ‘push to web’ designs
- What to look for in a good sample design
- Key principles of questionnaire design
- An overview of coding open-ended questions
- Highlights on what makes a good survey report
