New resources to help you put our AI guide for social care into practice
It’s been one year since we launched the AI guide for social care in Wales, created to help people working in social care explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) could be used responsibly to support their work.
AI can support tasks such as administration and recording information more efficiently, helping workers spend more time focusing on the people they support.
When used responsibly, it can be a valuable tool alongside the knowledge, skills and relationships that are at the heart of social care.
Over the past 12 months, people working across social care, digital, data and policy roles have used the guide to explore what AI is, how it might be used, and the principles that should guide its responsible use.
One year on, we’re sharing a new set of supporting resources to help bring the guide’s main themes to life.
New resources
The new resources include a short animation and a series of posters that break down the guide’s core themes, helping people:
- learn about AI and why it’s important to social care
- understand how AI works
- consider the main principles for using AI responsibly
- understand the importance of informed consent when using AI tools
- identify areas where AI could support their work.
These resources are designed to support team discussions, training sessions and wider awareness raising, and can be used on their own or alongside the full guide.
While AI continues to evolve, one thing remains unchanged: technology cannot replace the human relationships, professional judgement, experience and compassion at the heart of social care.
But, when used responsibly, AI can help free up more time for meaningful interactions and support.
