Understanding FHIR in social care: Mapping real world care to FHIR

Understanding FHIR in social care: Mapping real‑world care to FHIR

Social care is increasingly expected to work in a more connected way with health, local authorities and wider partners. The Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standard is becoming a key part of that journey; helping services share information consistently, safely and in a way that supports better care.

We want everyone across the sector to be included in this conversation; therefore, we’re running two accessible, supportive webinars designed to build confidence, whether you’re completely new to FHIR or already familiar with how data standards can support care.

We’ll explore how real‑world care information maps onto FHIR resources, how these resources link together to form a complete picture of a person’s care, and how profiles help standardise data safely across services.

Participants will:

  • understand how everyday care information is represented in FHIR and how resources connect to model real care pathways
  • learn how profiles support consistent, safe and person‑centred information sharing
  • see how standards help create joined‑up care
  • feel confident contributing their own practice and domain expertise to FHIR work
  • build a clear mental model that links real‑world practice to FHIR
  • feel ready to take part in upcoming modelling and hackathon activities.
