Shaping positive culture in social care
Last summer we worked with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) to launch the Supporting positive cultures guide .
We developed the Guide to help organisations foster workforce cultures where staff feel valued and respect, and people receiving care experience dignity, respect and compassion.
Launching the Guide
Over 220 practitioners, leaders and partners from across Wales joined us in a special webinar to launch the new Guide.
In the webinar, practitioners and leaders shared their experiences and challenges on building positive cultures. They all highlighted the growing need for more opportunities to work together and share sector wide learnings.
Lisa Trigg, our Director of Service Support and Improvement explained:
“Establishing, advocating and supporting positive cultures is vital to providing good care and support. Our webinar was welcomed as the start of an open dialogue, to understand how we can work together with our partners and the sector to support positive cultures.
“It’s important that everyone working across social care is committed to protecting and supporting people’s right - especially people who are at risk of harm or abuse.
We encourage employers and practitioners to contact Social Care Wales to learn more about our Supporting positive cultures guide, and the support we can offer in this area.”
Gillian Baranski, Chief Inspector of Care Inspectorate Wales said:
“What we see time and again through our inspection work is that the quality of care people receive is deeply connected to the culture within an organisation. A workforce that feels respected and empowered is far better placed to deliver the compassionate, dignified care that people in Wales deserve.
“This guide is a valuable tool, and we look forward to seeing it make a real difference across the sector.”
