What is Social Care? Let us show you.

19 October 2026

We’ve launched a new video to help people understand what social care is and the difference it can make to people’s lives. It also shines a light on the people who make social care what it is and the communities they support across Wales.

Real people. Real stories.

Our video brings together real footage of people who access care and support, alongside the people who work in the sector. We see how social care supports a positive impact in people’s homes and communities, as well as highlighting the varied roles across the profession.

Some of the people featured have been nominated, or recognised, through awards celebrating the difference they make to social care. Their experiences help bring social care to life.

One young person featured in the video explains what a social worker would be for him. His words are simple:

“Help me live a normal life”.

Social care is made up of more than 75 different roles, all playing a part in supporting people to live the lives that matter to them.
