New video resources to help build a better understanding of social care in Wales
We’ve created two new videos to help explain and build a better understanding of social care in Wales.
What are the videos?
Sometimes it can be hard to explain the term ‘social care’ as our sector covers so many areas and activities.
That’s why we’ve created two short and simple videos to help explain what ‘social care’ really means.
Who can use the videos?
Anyone can use the videos, free of charge.
We developed the new resources for our partner organisations to help explain the breadth and complexity of social care, and the positive impact it has on individuals and society.
How to use the videos
The videos explain and demonstrate how social care supports people of all ages in communities across Wales.
Did you know that more than 75 job roles exist in social care? The sector employs tens of thousands of professionals, and more than one in 50 people in Wales have a care and support plan in place.
The videos:
- outline some of the reasons why people access care and support
- explain how social care is built on relationships by supporting people to take the lead in decisions about their lives
- explain the range of activities delivered across Wales
- explain the support social care provides in people’s homes and communities
- highlight the wide and varied roles care professionals have, and recognise the vital role played by the informal workforce of unpaid carers.
Have you got any events, meetings or presentations in the diary where you’d like to introduce your audience to social care? If so, please feel free to use one of our videos!
You can also share the videos with your networks, partner organisations and communities – they’re a resource that anyone can use.
Where can you find the videos?
The videos are available in both Welsh and English, and you can watch them here or link them to your work from our YouTube channel.
